Oil spill containment equipment stolen

Maritime New Zealand says it is extremely disappointed by the theft and vandalism of anchors from a boom which was being used to protect an estuary in central Tauranga haroubr from oil from the Rena.

The container ship ran aground on the Astrolable reef on 5 October.

Maritime NZ commander Nick Quinn says it is frustrating to see this kind of behaviour.
