Fanzone guard numbers seen as enough

The man who represents the Government's interests on the Rugby World Cup fanzone is confident there are enough security guards to maintain crowd control.

Rugby World Cup Minister Murray McCully is expected to approve expanding the zone onto Captain Cook Wharf, to prevent a repeat of last Friday's serious overcrowding in downtown Auckland.

Police have raised concerns there will not be enough security available to manage the extended zone.

But Peter Winder told Morning Report that organisers have now secured enough security guards for the weekend to work on both wharfs and in downtown Auckland.
