Rugby fans to be contacted by council next week

7:31 pm on 17 September 2011

The Auckland Council says people unable to get to the opening game of the Rugby World Cup or the opening ceremony will be contacted next week.

About 630 people missed the opening ceremony on 9 September, while 66 people missed the first game because of transport-related issues.

The register for those who experienced problems will close on Monday, and then the council will contact them individually.

It is considering offering tickets to those worst affected.
