Three face charges after an English tourist is assaulted

Three Dunedin men will appear in court this week after an English tourist, here for the Rugby World Cup, was assaulted early on Sunday.

Police say the 21-year-old man was attacked on Princes Street in the city at about 6am as he was walking back to his accommodation.

A a 19-year-old man has been charged with the assault, and will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday.

Two others, aged 15 and 18, have also been charged with theft in relation to the incident and will appear in court later this week.

The victim is recovering in Dunedin hospital from moderate facial injuries.
