Coach considered faking injury in semi-final

The International Rugby Board is going to look into a comment by Warren Gatland that he considered cheating during Wales' loss to France in their World Cup semi-final last weekend.

Gatland said on Tuesday that with one prop lost through injury, he

considered the possibility of faking an injury to another prop to bring about uncontested scrums, but he couldn't bring himself to compromise the spirit of the game.

Morally, I made the decision that was not the right thing to do,'' he said.

''We could have easily done that in the first 25-30 minutes. But in the spirit of the game, in the spirit of the World Cup semi-final, I didn't think that was the fairest or the right thing to do.''

France won 9-8 after Wales played for more than an hour with 14 men.
