Cup Final sparks record A and E patients

Auckland Hospital reports it had record numbers of patients through accident and emergency on Monday in the wake of the Rugby World Cup final.

The hospital says 234 patients were seen, most of them with alcohol-related injuries or illness - 25% more than on a normal Monday.

The opening night of the Rugby World Cup set the previous record for emergency admissions at Auckland Hospital when 212 people were seen by medical staff.
