Rural sector workers trying to further their careers are the focus of a new pan-industry training initiative.
The Primary Industry Capability Alliance (PICA) was launched in Wellington by Primary Industries Minister David Carter on Tuesday.
The alliance is a partnership between the Government, industry bodies, training institutions, and farmer representatives.
PICA chairman Richard Fitzgerald, who is also the chief executive of the Young Farmers organisation, says career pathways in the rural sector are often unclear.
Mr Fitzgerald says PICA's aim is to bring the various career initiatives across the rural sector together under one umbrella organisation.
