The national Young Farmer crown stays in the South Island, with a Murchison rural vet Michael Lilley winning this year's grand final.
The 26-year-old took the title after three days of intense competition in Dunedin, winning a $70,000 prize pack in the process.
He succeeds last year's winner Will Grayling, a Canterbury dairy farm manager.
Michael Lilley was also a grand finalist in 2009 and says his plan is to combine his veterinary career with farming.
Another southern contestant, Otago-Southland's Pete Gardyne, won the practical challenges.
A Christchurch Boys' High School team, Tom Monteath and Danny Brooker, won the TeenAg final run in conjunction with the Young Farmer contest, and the Agrikids title went to a Tokonui trio, Prue Buckingham, Jessica Dermody and Lachlan Crosbie.
