A Hawke's Bay sheep and beef farmer and processor who is active in various meat industry bodies has won Federated Farmers Agribusiness Person of the Year award.
Craig Hicks is the managing director of Progressive Meats in Hawke's Bay, is on the board of Beef + Lamb New Zealand and is a director of the New Zealand Meat Board.
A second award, the Agribusiness Personality of the Year award was won by Dr Doug Edmeades.
Dr Edmeades developed the science research company, AgKnowledge in 1997, and has had to fend off legal challenges relating to work he has published questioning the claims of a number of fertiliser companies.
The awards were announced at Federated Farmers' national conference in Auckland on Thursday night.
