NZ shearing team heads to Ireland after washout

7:49 pm on 13 July 2012

The New Zealand shearing team is now heading to Ireland after the latest competition in England was cancelled because of the weather.

It is the first time since 1838 that bad weather has forced the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate to be cancelled.

The official New Zealand team of John Kirkpatrick and Nathan Stratford will compete at the Rickamore Shears in Northern Ireland this weekend, ahead of four shows in Wales, including the Royal Welsh Show.

New Zealand's shearing legend David Fagan and his son Jack are also competing in the UK at the moment.
