New Zealander Tim van de Molen has won the title of Australasian Rural Youth Ambassador.
Mr van de Molen, who is 29, works as an agribusiness manager for the ANZ-National Bank in Waikato.
He won the award in Darwin on Thursday night by beating five other competitors from around Australia.
Mr van de Molen says the win came as a surprise, because of the high calibre of the competition.
He says agriculture is key for both country's economies and he will take the opportunity as ambassador to promote that.
