Damage to roads from logging trucks condemned

12:49 pm on 17 August 2012

Far North Mayor Wayne Brown says Northland roads are taking their worst hammering in years from logging trucks and ratepayers can't afford to the repair bill.

Mr Brown says the combination of a very wet winter, with saturated sub-soils and a boom in log sales is proving disastrous for the region's rural roading network.

He says logging trucks are causing significant damage to road shoulders and drainage when they pull over to pass each other.
