Canterbury Regional Council has welcomed a decision by Federated Farmers, to withdraw a High Court appeal about decisions included in a regional policy statement.
The statement sets out how natural and physical resources need to be managed in a sustained and integrated way, for present and future generations.
The federation had raised concerns about clearance of vegetation and the ability of farmers to maintain hill and high country properties.
It says the council has since said it will work actively with farmers when concerns arise.
