Scholarship applications now open

Beef and Lamb New Zealand is now accepting applications for its 2013 undergraduate scholarships.

Chief executive Scott Champion says the scholarships provide talented students with up to $5000 a year in university tuition fees, for the duration of their bachelor or honours degree.

He says Beef and Lamb New Zealand also provides the successful applicants with opportunities to meet industry leaders and agricultural experts, which may help them decide what career path they want to follow once they leave university.

Peter Klassen, who is one of the recent recipients, has just completed a masters degree in Agricommerce at Lincoln University.

He says the scholarship was not only a financial blessing, but exposed him to the complexities of the sheep and beef industries beyond the farm gate.
