Aquaculture New Zealand reckons the industry has the potential to reach its goal of becoming $1 billion industry well before the target date of 2025.
Currently it's worth $360 million per year.
Chief executive Mike Burrell told the annual seafood industry conference in Wellington that it's the fastest growing primary sector.
