Rabobank forecasts that India will become the world's biggest beef exporter next year, with buffalo meat.
A report by Rabobank quotes US Department of Agriculture figures that predict buffalo meat exports from India will rise from 609,000 tonnes three years ago to more than two million tonnes in 2013.
That's a strong contrast to world beef production which has been declining
It says high world meat prices are encouraging farmers in India to slaugher unproductive animals from the country's large and expanding dairy herd.
