Clear goals and leadership have gained a central North Island couple the national sharemilker of the year title in the annual dairy industry awards.

Chris and Teresa Moore sharemilk 600 cows at Ngongotaha, near Rotorua.

The farm manager of the year winner, Shane Kelly, manages a 400 hectare Landcorp farm at Dobson, near Greymouth on the West Coast.

Mark Nicholas, an assistant farm manager at Whakatane, is the national dairy trainee of the year.

Retired Massey University professor, Colin Holmes, received the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award for his research and for other contributions to the dairy industry.
