Dairy farmer shareholders of the Livestock Improvement Corporation have voted in favour of transferring its data base to Dairy New Zealand.

The data base holds genetic information gathered from herd testing, relating to calving, mating and production.

A report in 2009 recommended shifting control of the data base to Dairy NZ so it was avaliable to all dairy farmers.

More than 88% of LIC sharheolders who voted, supported the transfer, which will take place within two years.

LIC still has a much larger commercial data base, which will remain in its hands.
