Primary Industries Minister David Carter is off to India this week as part of New Zealand efforts to boost trade there.
Mr Carter says India is a rapidly rising player in the Asia-Pacific region and one of New Zealand's priorities for a free trade agreement.
He will hold talks with India's agriculture and trade ministers. New Zealand's dairy, meat, horticulture and agri-tech representatives will join him for other meetings.
The minister will also visit Indonesia and Sri Lanka for agriculture and trade talks.
