Gisborne PSA control zone extended

1:38 pm on 30 November 2012

Kiwifruit Vine Health has extended the PSA control zone in the Gisborne area to cover the whole Poverty Bay growing region, after finding further infected vines there.

Chief executive Barry O'Neil said the new cases were actually traced from a potted kiwifruit plant found in a glass house at Otaki on the west coast of the lower North Island, that came from a Gisborne nursery.

The PSA disease has now spread to all the main kiwifruit growing areas of the North island.
