2:11 pm on 4 December 2012

Food Safety Minister Kate Wilkinson will meet her Australian counterparts in Brisbane on Friday to decide whether hemp foods can be consumed in both countries.

The trans-Tasman statutory body Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has recommended hemp seed foods should be permitted for sale.

All hemp food products are banned in Australia while in New Zealand only hemp seed oil has been approved for consumption.
