A felted yarn manufacturer in Christchurch has won the top prize in a nationwide energy efficiency competition.

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority runs the annual competition to acknowledge organisations and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in energy efficiency or renewable energy projects.

This year, the supreme award went to Radford Yarn Technologies, a company which processes New Zealand wool into high-end felted yarns and exports it to carpet and rug manufacturers.

Radford Yarn Technologies won the award for its installation of a specialised wood pellet boiler to produce the heat needed to process the wool.
