Several farmers around Taranaki have offered replacement cows to a family after 120 of its cows dropped dead two days ago.
The Ministry for Primary Industries will investigate what caused the sudden deaths, which happened half an hour after the water troughs on the family's Oeo farm were filled from a portable tank.
Dairy New Zealand said it will coordinate offers of help, which include replacing the cows.
Dr Nita Harding said the farmer did nothing wrong.
