Meat and dairy products drive higher manufacturing sales

Manufacturing sales have risen, due to exports of meat and dairy products.

Figures from Statistics New Zealand show the value of total manufacturing increased 1.6% in the three months to September, compared with the previous quarter.

If price changes are stripped out, volumes rose 2.6%.

Statistics NZ says the increase in volumes reflect stronger exports of meat and dairy products.

But if these two groups were excluded, the agency said manufacturing volumes would have fallen.
