Dairy company figures show New Zealand milk production is up by almost 6.5% on a year ago.
Milk output during the early part of the current season has been exceptionally strong, but growth rates have fallen off as the season has progressed.
The industry is expecting a considerable slowdown in milk production in the later part of the season.
