Agrecovery Foundation says farmers who recycle any sort of plastic containers during February and March, have a chance to win one of 10 $500 rural supply company vouchers.

The foundation is a non-profit charitable trust, with trustees representing Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Horticulture New Zealand and Agcarm.

It's the second year the agriculture rural recycling programme which the foundation administers, has offered a cash incentive of $5000 to farmers.

Marketing manager Duncan Scotland said last year's promotion was very successful and it created a big increase in visits to the foundation's website.

Mr Scotland said during the first month of last year's promotion the volume of plastic collected increased by 60% on the previous year.

He said to be eligible to win one of the 10 prizes, farmers need to make sure containers still have a label, have been rinsed three times and have a capacity of 60 litres or less.
