Invercargill shearer Nathan Stratford won the open title at the Otago Shearing and Woolhandling Championships at the weekend.
Stratford finished ahead of Cam Ferguson from Waipawa in Hawke's Bay. Golden Shears champion John Kirkpatrick from Napier was third.
Stratford also teamed with Kirkpatrick to comfortably win an international shearing Test against Wales.
New Zealand now leads the three Test series 2-0.
