Exhibit numbers remain high at Fieldays despite recession

Despite taking longer to fill the spaces, the total number of exhibitors at the National Agricultural Fieldays is the same as last year.

The annual event at Mystery Creek near Hamilton opens to the public on Wednesday for four days.

It is the biggest agricultural show in the Southern Hemisphere.

General manager Barry Quayle says the recession is to blame for exhibitors being more cautious this year, but the number has still reached last year's record level.
