Waikato dairy farmers Grant Wills and Karen Preston have won the top title and a string of other prizes in the region's farm environment awards.
With the help of sharemilker Steve Ironmonger, they run a 650-cow operation on their farm at Walton that consistently achieves production above the regional average.
Judges noted that decision making on the 244 hectare farm focuses on profitability while caring for the people, the cows and the environment.
