The National Bee Keepers Association hopes the Government will continue to support it despite ending funds to slow the spread of an unstoppable honey parasite.

The Government invested funds for nine years towards monitoring and testing for the bee mite, Varroa.

National Bee Keepers Association president Frans Laas says the parasite is more of a problem in the South rather than the North Island.

The Government says research work to manage Virroa will continue up until September.
