The organisers of the National Agricultural Fieldays hope to set a new attendance record at the four day event this week.

Fieldays begins on Wednesday at Mystery Creek near Hamilton

Chief executive Jon Calder said if the weather plays its part, then he's confident they will get 130,000 people through the gates, topping the previous record of 128,000 last year.

Mr Calder said from large-scale farmers to life style block owners to the urban public, Fieldays has something to interest everyone.

The theme for this year's Fieldays is "getting down to business in the global economy".
