A man who sparked an armed offenders call-out in the village of Mamaku, near Rotorua, has handed himself in to police.
Police on Thursday set up a cordon and warned people to stay away from the area as they had concerns about his emotional well-being and his access to guns.
An intensive search was scaled down on Thursday night.
The man went to the Tokoroa police station on Friday morning with a relative. Police say it is is likely that he will face charges.
