Wool growers seek Govt views on their industry

8:09 am on 10 September 2009

A delegation of wool growers will seek some answers from the Government on Thursday about the future of the wool industry.

Cliff Heath of the Wool Advancement Group and Hugh Taylor of Romney New Zealand are meeting Agriculture Minister, David Carter.

Mr Heath, who's also the new chairman of Wool Equities, a farmer-owned investment company, says they want to know if the Government sees the wool industry as still important in the New Zealand economy.

They also want to discuss what becomes of the assets of the wool assets as a result of a recent vote by farmers against renewing the wool levy.

Mr Heath says they will also seek Government support and participation in a wool industry summit planned for later this month.
