Farmers hope NZ dollar doesn't go higher

Federated Farmers president Don Nicolson says farmers don't want a repeat of two years ago when the New Zealand dollar was worth over 75 cents against the US dollar.

Last Friday it broke through the 70 US cent mark again.

Mr Nicolson, who runs a sheep and beef property north of Invercargill, says in 2007 sheep and beef farmers had their worst financial year for 50 years.
