Three Fonterra directors being challenged

12:48 pm on 14 October 2009

Three sitting directors on the Fonterra board are being challenged in upcoming elections.

Colin Armer, Stuart Nattrass and John Wilson are seeking re-election at the end of their three year terms.

Their seats are being contested by Andrea Marsh, Russ Rimmington and Nicola Shadbolt.

Andrea Marsh is a Bay of Plenty dairy farmer who's campaigned against some decisions by the Fonterra board.

Mr Rimmington is a Cambridge dairy farmer, businessman and former mayor of Hamilton who's strongly opposed to the co-operative opening itself up to outside investment.

Ms Shadbolt is an associate professor at Massey University, where she lectures in farm management and is also an equity partner in several dairy farms.

Fonterra's 10,500 farmer shareholders will receive voting papers later this month. They will be able to quizz the candidates at election meetings early next month.
