A Dunedin honey marketer is aiming to double the amount of honey it sells overseas over the next two years.

The South-Island based New Zealand Honey Co was named as the country's fastest growing business in Deloitte's Fast 50 poll, growing 900% since its inception in 2006.

The company exports nearly all of the honey it handles, supplying health food stores and supermarkets mainly in Britain, Germany and Hong Kong.

Chief executive Chris McElroy says it expects to sell about 750 tonnes of South Island honey this year, and hopes to increase that by up to 1500 tonnes in two years.
