The New Zealand shearing team has started its British tour with a loss to Scotland.

The Lochearnhead Shears has gone to Scotland in their last eight encounters with New Zealand.

The contest was dominated by Hamish Mitchell, who won the Scottish National shearing final the previous weekend.

The next contest for the Golden Shears and New Zealand Open champion Rowland Smith, and teammate Tony Coster, will be against England at the Lakeland Shears next weekend.
