The Chinese dairy company seeking to build a $220 million infant formula processing factory in Pokeno in Waikato has been given the green light to proceed.

Waikato District Council granted land use consent to the Yashili NZ Dairy Company last week.

Yashili hopes the plant will produce 50,000 tonnes of infant formula a year once it is built and up and running.
