Northland still dry

7:49 am on 20 February 2010

Farms in Northland still need rain. Many dairy farmers in the northern parts of the region are drying off altogether.

Rivers have dropped to particularly low levels and are now difficult to access.

Sheep and beef farms are destocking. Country Life reports they are fortunate that store prices are quite good with animals being snapped up by farmers out of the region.

A stream of stock trucks are heading south and trucks with baleage heading north.
