Lull in kiwifruit season

7:45 am on 17 April 2010

The kiwifruit harvest has slowed in the Bay of Plenty.

Country Life reports the season is in "no man's land" between 'early start', when growers get a premium for early fruit, and the main harvest.

Bay of Plenty is also having warm nights again - which is not helping fruit mature.

Meanwhile, cooler and drier conditions in the Nelson/Motueka region, means there's been little autumn growth for a smaller than usual kiwifruit crop that's due to start coming off next week.
