National sheep dog trials

1:46 pm on 27 May 2014

The South Island and national sheep dog trials are into their second day at Waihi Station near Geraldine in Canterbury.

Organisers say the championships have had to contend with very cold conditions but there was no disruption due to the weather.

About 300 triallists from around the country are competing in the four events: the straight and zig zag huntaway and the long head and short head and yard.

The championships run through to the weekend.
