Farmers hailed by LIC

The contribution dairy farmers make to the genetics of the country's dairy herds will be celebrated in Hamilton on Tuesday.

The livestock genetics company is hosting a Breeders Day, to recognise farmers who have bred bulls used in both daughter proven and DNA proven premier sires teams.

Product Manager Mike Wilson says LIC expects about 80 breeders and their families to attend.

Premiers sires is an artificial breeding programme which accounts for more than 70% of all the artificial inseminations carried out in the New Zealand dairy industry.
