Mixed results at Beef Expo

12:51 pm on 19 May 2010

The Beef Expo in Feilding is over for another year, with mixed results for the seven cattle breeds that participated in the event.

Auctioneer Bruce Orr of PGG Wrightson says Angus led the way again in terms of prices and sales of breeding stock. Several Angus bulls made over $10,000.

Hereford also had a successful sale. The judges choose a Hereford bull as the champion of champions.

Leelands Digital was bred by Charles and Margaret Lee at the Leelands stud in central Hawke's Bay.

However, it was not a great outing for some of the other breeds and Mr Orr says they're going to have to do some soul searching.
