Fruit and vegetable market now worth $4 billion

Horticulture New Zealand says its latest export value figures shows the fruit and vegetable industry continues to grow even through difficult economic times.

Total export revenue for fruit and vegetables was $2.2 billion in 2009.

The combined export and domestic market is now worth $4 billion.

Horticulture NZ president Andrew Fenton says the industry is on the way to achieving its goal of $10 billion by 2020.
