Holstein Friesian milestone celebrated

Holstein Friesian dairy farmers have been celebrating the centenary of the breed association in New Zealand.

More than 250 dairy farmers and their families have been attending four days of activities in Palmerston North, which include commemorative awards, a variety of dinners, field trips and a parade.

The large black and white cow, little known when it was first imported from the Netherlands, now makes up almost half the national dairy herd.
