The funeral for Fonterra's first chief executive, Craig Norgate, will be held this afternoon in Hawera, the Taranaki township where he grew up.
The 50-year-old died two weeks ago in London, where he was pursuing business opportunities.
The cause of death remains unknown and has been referred to the coroner.
Mr Norgate was born in Hawera, where he attended high school before following in his father's footsteps in becoming an accountant.
At the age of 36, he was appointed CEO of Fonterra when it was created in 2001 from the merger of the two biggest dairy companies, Kiwi and the Dairy Group, and the New Zealand Dairy Board.
He later became chief executive of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
