Agriseeds consolidates operations at Rolleston

One of the country's largest seed producing companies, Agriseeds, is bringing together most of its operations in a new site in Canterbury, to give itself room to expand.

Agriseeds is joining a number of other agribusinesses at the Izone industrial hub at Rolleston, south of Christchurch.

The mid-Canterbury plant breeding and research company specialises in forage pasture. It has its own research farm and supplies seeds for New Zealand farms as well as exporting to Australia, South America and South Africa.

Agriseeds chief executive Murray Willocks says the firm is expanding in the specialist areas of seed coating and cool storage of endophytes.

PGG Wrightson's seeds business is also moving to a new site at the Rolleston industrial hub and Westland dairy co-operative has recently opened a new storage facility there.
