Farmers are more optimistic about the future according to the latest survey of confidence in the rural sector.
The Rabobank Survey says farmer confidence has lifted for the fourth consecutive quarter.
It found 87% of farmers have a rosy outlook and expect economic conditions to either improve or remain stable.
Rabobank says rising commodity prices and improved overseas markets and economies are behind the lift in confidence.
That's in stark contrast to a survey issued by Federated Farmers which showed a strong, underlying pessimism among farmers, with only 3% of those surveyed expecting the economy to improve.
