New Zealand's newest strong wool co-operative has appointed former Telecom chief executive Theresa Gattung as its chair.
Rural servicing company PGG Wrightson announced in May it had agreed to combine its wool business with growers' co-operative Wool Grower Holdings in a bid to improve returns to strong wool farmers.
The agreement saw PGG Wrightson transfer its wool operations to new entity, The Wool Company, launched in Wellington on Thursday.
The company says it wants to establish a strong New Zealand wool brand and partner internationally with recognised players to improve returns to farmers and ensure sustainability of wool production.
The company will start its operations on Friday.
