NZ to resume flower exports to US

1:38 pm on 18 September 2008

New Zealand will resume sending flowers to the United States on Thursday after the discovery of a moth pest suspended exports.

The US Department of Agriculture suspended all imports of cut New Zealand flowers and foliage earlier in September after a moth pest was found on a shipment of flowers.

Biosecurity New Zealand says the export of flowers from 20 of the country's covered sites should resume after inspections on Thursday afternoon.

Eighty other covered sites are due to be inspected in coming weeks.
